What is Independent advocacy?

Advocacy is a support approach where individuals with lived experience offer guidance, understanding, and representation to others facing similar challenges. At Kindred,  our advocacy workers  - often parents or carers of children with complex needs -  help families navigate systems, express their views, and access the services their child needs with confidence.

This independent advocacy ensures that families’ voices are heard, respected, and valued, empowering them to make informed decisions and achieve the best outcomes for their children.

You can find out more about the Scottish Indepdendent Advocacy Allianr on their website SIAA, including their key document Independent Advocacy Principles, Standards and Codes of Best Practice.
