Our board
The following people bring a range of experience and expertise to Kindred’s Board of Trustees:
Huma Barrie
We are delighted that Huma Barrie is returning to our board as a trustee. Huma was our Chair for five years (until November 2022) and helped to research and establish our Fundraising Strategy. Huma worked as a Pupil Support Assistance and is now completing her training as a learning disability nurse.
Lesley Clemenson
Les was a founder member of Kindred (from the time when we were known as SNIP) and rejoined the board for three years (2018 - 2021). Les has a background in fundraising for major Scottish charities and has a great knowledge of governance. We are delighted that Les is back for her third time in office.
Jock Encombe
Jock was chair of Mercy Corps Europe and also of the NHS Lothian Charity, as well as a board member of NHS Lothian. He is a leadership and organisation consultant with thirty years experience in the private, public and charity sectors. Jock facilitated Kindred’s strategic planning and provided leadership coaching.
Laura McCartney
Laura has extensive experience as a carer for her son and has extensive knowledge of Additional Support for Learning and the specialist school sector. Laura's background is in Human Resources.
