Become a Kindred Star

Every charity has supporters that go above and beyond with their fundraising efforts. People do this for various reasons, sometimes personal and sometimes because someone else gets them involved in their own fun fundraising event.

Whatever the reason, charities cannot do without the generous fundraising that our communities do to keep our services running.

At Kindred we too have our very own Kindred Stars.

One such Kindred Star is Jenny Harris. Jenny is a long-time supporter of Kindred. From helping with events to being an office angel, Jenny is as much part of the team as anyone else.

This year Jenny held a sale in aid of Kindred at the Stockbridge Colonies yard sale and raised an amazing £525.

Jenny not only threw her own pottery, but she also bakes amazing flapjacks and made cotton bags and purses.

Jenny said “I have seen and heard from so many families who have been helped by Kindred's wonderful staff, and I always feel any time I spend volunteering for Kindred is time well spent. I know that the more I can do for this great wee charity, the more time the staff have to respond to requests for assistance. I get a lot of pleasure from being a volunteer, and I feel very appreciated”.

Another brilliant Kindred Star is Kindred mum, Kelly McMahon. Kelly has been busily walking in aid of Kindred as thanks for supporting her with her son, Robbie. Kelly set up a fundraiser, 50 miles for Robbie, on Just Giving.

My son, Robbie has complex health needs, a diagnosis of ADHD, he has sensory issues, a sleep disorder and Epilepsy. Robbie has no sense of danger, has difficulty coping with his environment and often has sensory overload. Getting the right educational setting for him was so important to him and me, every child deserves an education.  My son, Robbie has complex health needs, a diagnosis of ADHD, he has sensory issues, a sleep disorder and Epilepsy. We were struggling to be heard, that’s when I met Linda, an advocate with Kindred. Linda’s knowledge helped us get proper recognition for Robbie’s needs and changed everything for us. Kindred is my backbone, getting my son what he needed and deserved, Linda just got our situation fully. She was kind and understanding.

That’s why we are asking you to donate what you can, so that other families are able to get the same service we did. Donate today and give another child’s family the support they deserve.”
