Dunbar Supermums and Wonderwomen plus a Super-Wonder-dad!

Laura Bell is one of 9 mums who met at an antenatal group in Dunbar two and a half years ago. Laura has found friendship, inspiration, and love within this amazing group.

Three of the babies in this group have additional support needs. Harris and Sandy have Cerebral Palsy, and Sophie has Downs Syndrome. They all have in common ‘strength and determination.’ Despite the many additional daily challenges they face, Laura tells us how they ‘fill the world with joy and happiness every day.’ Looking at the pictures, we can certainly see they are indeed a bundle of joy.

Laura and the other mums, Libi, Charlie, Kelsey, Catherine, Laura B, Sarah and (honorary wonderdad) Jonathan, reflected on the tremendous support they and their families have and continue to receive. The NHS and two charities gave that support; therefore, the group decided they would all like to raise money for Kindred and Downs Syndrome Scotland by running the 2021 Edinburgh Marathon Relay on Sunday 30th May.

Two teams of four will be running the Marathon Relay, each covering a set distance between 4.4 miles and 8.3 miles. Each team makes up the 26.2-mile marathon distance.

The Dunbar SuperMums – aka Lisa, Libi, Charlie and Kelsey; and

The Dunbar WonderWomen – aka Catherine, Laura B, Sarah and Jonathan.

Laura tells us she discovered Kindred through her friend Catherine who also uses the service. She explained how 3 of the families in their small group have benefitted from the support Kindred gives.
